“Sports serve society by providing vivid examples of excellence.”
  • Sports and games are essential for health. They play an important role in the lives of young men and women. The aim of education is the overall development of the personality of man. It means development of not only the mind but also the body. Sports and games enable people to remain healthy and fit. They keep the body fit. They create a spirit of healthy competition.

“A sound body has a sound mind.”
  • There are many games such as cricket, hockey, football, badminton, volleyball etc. Most of the students take great interest in them. But I like cricket most of all. It is my favorite game. This game is very popular in our country. Whenever some foreign team visits our country, cricket matches are played in different countries of Pakistan. A large number of people come to watch these matches. They are shown on the television and also listened on radio.

“Sports do not build character they reveal it.”
  • Cricket is a very popular game of our country. It is full of great thrill, suspense and interest. It also develops in us discipline, duty, team-spirit and sportsman’s spirit. Its popularity is increasing day by day. Especially, one-day matches are full of interest and amusement.

       As it is well said:
“All work and no play make jack a dull boy.”
  • Last month, I had a chance to watch a one-day match. The match was played between the teams of the Govt. College of Science and Abdul Salam College, on a smooth and clean ground of our college. It was full of thrill and amusement. After two periods the students were allowed to watch the match. There was a huge crowd. Many people came from distant places to enjoy the match.
  • At Nine, the match began with the toss but we invited the Abdul Salamian to play first. Both the openers of the team were much experienced batsman. They were very confident and played well. They were delighted with brilliant boundaries and sixes. They scored hundred runs in eleven overs. But soon one of them was out. He scored fifty eight runs. The players came one by one and played in their different manners. Two of them were run out and the last three batsmen were caught behind the wickets. At last, the whole team was out after making only two hundred and fifty three runs. After lunch, the match started again, Zaka Ahmad came opener with Mobeen Ahmad. The target was quite easy and one batsman played aggressively from the beginning. Both the players were bowled out later. They scored one hundred and one runs in ten overs. Then came the great captain Sarosh Ahmad and Yasir Imar who loved to hit the ball with full force. Whenever, they scored a sixer or hit the boundary, people went mad with joy and jumped and danced at their seats. Both the players made a great partnership and scored two hundred and forty five runs in ninteen overs. The captain of the other team changed the bowler. The new bowler produced a fine spell and got the wicket of Yasir Imaar.

“One player practicing sportsmanship is for better than fifty preaching it.”
  •     The match was being played in a pleasant atmosphere. It was the last pair. They rival team had scored two hundred and fifty three runs in twenty overs. It was the moment full of suspense and thrill. There was a deep silence in the ground. At last, the captain Sarosh Ahmad made a sixer on the last ball and won the match. The captain of our team was declared the man of the match.

“The more you sweat in practice, the less you blessed in battle.”

  • It was really a very thrilling match and everyone enjoyed it very much. The teachers were patting the players for their brilliant performance. It was an unforgettable experience for me.
